For many years Burdock root has been used to assist with various conditions. From acne, to ulcers, tonsillitis, the aches and pains of arthritis, rheumatism, sciatica, and swollen joints.

 

In recent studies, the most promising use is in oncology. Burdock Root is nature's best "blood purifier". It helps to rid the body of toxins and clear congestion in the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory and urinary systems.

In one study Burdock Root was found to protect the liver cells from the damage of taking acetaminophen. (You should NOT exceed 4000mg’s per day for a 150lbs adult) It is thought to stimulate the gallbladder and encourage liver cells to regenerate. Burdock Root tinctures are a natural remedy rich in such elements as calcium, potassium, iron, copper, chromium, inulin, resin flavonoids, mucilage, chlorogenic acid, lactone and a series of vitamins.

 

Burdock root tincture is considered to be an herbal aphrodisiac, and it has been found to be helpful for infertility and impotence. It is also used to balance hormone levels, reduce the symptoms of PMS, fibroids, and endometriosis. Enhances the liver’s ability to metabolize hormones such as estrogen and thereby improve the symptoms associated with this type of imbalance.

 

Burdock root extracts alleviate excess water weight and help to keep the skin clear and healthy. Burdock is rich in phytosterols and essential fatty acids that help to maintain a healthy scalp and promote hair growth.

 

Burdock is said to cleanse and eliminate long-term impurities from the blood by its mechanisms of action on both the liver and kidneys. It is used therapeutically to assist in the treatment of exposure to environmental toxins such as cigarette smoke or air pollution, heavy metals such as mercury, lead, or arsenic in the blood. Burdock Root has been found to help heal a damaged liver and protect it from further damage. Burdock Root is beginning to be used in oncology today for its cancer inhibiting properties. More prominently in countries OUTSIDE of the USA that are not governed by pharmaceutical companies. Many herbalists say that Burdock root can inhibit cancer cells from metastasizing. And Japanese researchers have isolated a substance in Burdock Root, named the "B-factor," that is said to reduce cell mutation. There is also a dietary fiber in Burdock seed, called "arctin," that may slow or stop the growth of malignant disease in the breast in its early stages and may also have similar benefits against colon and pancreatic malignancies.

 

Burdock Root tinctures can boost the immune system and provide the body with the necessary nutrients to fight off infections. Additionally, it has been used to enhance treatment of HIV and AIDS.  The herb is a powerful immune booster that may help your body fight the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Burdock Root may also help cleanse the bloodstream and lymphatic system of toxins that can speed the progress of AIDS.

 

One of the active components of Burdock Root is sesquiterpene lactones, which are active plant chemicals found to have antibacterial and antifungal properties. The antioxidants in Burdock Root inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. This tincture can also be used topically. It is a helpful herbal remedy for treating athlete's foot, dandruff and diaper rash, and many other disease-causing fungi.

 

Burdock Root restores and maintains a healthy scalp and hair. It also helps improve scalp conditions and irritations. It helps to address dandruff and hair loss. It provides an effect on the sebaceous glands and hair follicles and stimulates hair growth.

 

Ingredients: Burdock root and Certified Grain Alcohol.

 

Dosage:  Use 6-12 drops in juice, water, under the tongue or as desired. May be taken 3 times daily. Shake well. Store in cool dark place. Keep out of reach of children. Take 3-5 days off of the tincture after 2 weeks of continuous use.

 

Precautions:  Large amounts (many times the recommended dosage) of Burdock Root may cause uterine stimulation; therefore, it is always advisable for pregnant women to consult a physician before taking it.

Do not take Burdock without talking to your doctor first if you are taking diabetic medicine (examples: insulin, Glucophage(R) metformin, DiaBeta(R) Glynase(R) glyburide).
